UCS struck a chord last weekend with Michigan music educators.

Three groups of students were selected to perform before music teachers as part of the Michigan Music Conference, held in Grand Rapids.

UCS students were selected to perform based on auditions that placed them among the state’s top music students.

Eisenhower students Meghan Tremmel and Isaac O'Rourke were both selected to be a part of the inaugural 17 member All-State Jazz Honors Choir. Delaney Gizzi was selected for the second year in a row to perform with the HS SATB State Honors Choir.

Malow Junior High School Freshmen Kendall Bills, Kristina Bzhetaj, Mary Kotsonis, Anijah Robinson, Alissa Thompson and Olivia Thompson were selected by audition in October to perform with the Michigan School Vocal Music Association 7-8-9 SSA State Honors Choir.  Choir students are under the direction of Julia Holt.

In addition, the Malow Junior High School Jazz Band was among only eight Michigan ensembles to earn an invitation to a statewide conference of music educators.

The 22-member band performed a 45-minute set at the Amway Grand Hotel for band directors across Michigan. The band is under the direction of music teacher Jeffery Groth.
