UCS teams build success at state LEGO tournament

The team on the bleachersTwo Utica Community Schools teams earned top finishes in a statewide competition that challenges students to program Lego robots.

The Duncan Elementary Thunder Monkeys and the Switzer Elementary Masterminds earned the top two spots in the research division of the Michigan FIRST Lego League competition.

The Thunder Monkeys took first place and the Switzer Elementary Masterminds placed second.
FIRST LEGO Robotics introduces younger students (ages 9-14) to real-world engineering challenges by building LEGO-based robots to complete tasks on a thematic playing surface. Project-based, hands-on FIRST programs promote coding, programming, and engineering in an environment where students work collaboratively to solve a yearly robotics challenge.
