School Operating Status

  • Schools open for in-person instruction
    • Practice good hygiene
  • Breakfast and lunch offered to all students.
  • Transportation continues.
  • Inter-school competitions continues.
  • Indoor spectator events continue with no restrictions.
  • Large scale outdoor stadium or spectator events continue with no restrictions.

Responding to Positive Tests Among Staff and Students

  • Classroom or areas exposed must be immediately closed until cleaning and disinfection can be performed. 
  • Cleaning staff must wear a surgical mask when performing cleaning of these areas along with gloves and face shield.
  • Staffed by UCS highly qualified teachers.
  • Available for students K-12 not attending an in-person/remote learning environment at their home-school.
  • Will provide high standards of quality instruction and support.  
Gathering, and Extracurricular Activities

  • All Utica Community School gatherings including those that occur outdoors should comply with current and future executive orders that set caps on congregation of people.
  • If field trips occur, they should comply with transportation guidelines including mandatory facial covering, if applicable.


  • Pupil Services department
    • New students to UCS assigned to home school before enrolling in the virtual academy
  • Home school designation remains from the 2019-2020 school year
    • Retain official records
    • Participation in extra-curricular activities when applicable 
  • Special Education Services, 504 Services, and English Learner supports
    • Provided by UCS highly qualified teachers
    • Coordinated with related service providers within Individualized Education Plan, 504 Plan, or related service plan.
  • Transitions in or out of the academy
    Only at the semester.
