March 18 Virtual Open House welcomes 2021-22 Utica Community Schools kindergarten families
Posted on 03/11/2021

Utica Community Schools will be hosting a virtual open house to welcome 2021-22 kindergarten parents at 7 p.m. on March 18.

The open house will allow new parents to virtually meet with their new school’s teachers and principals and learn more about the district’s traditional kindergarten and new Young Fives program.

“We look forward to meeting our new families and welcoming them to their UCS family,” Superintendent Robert Monroe said. “Over the next 13 years, they will be our partners making sure these years are filled with wonder, excitement, success and discovery.”

Families interested in the open house should sign up prior to the event by visiting this link:

The virtual open house will feature an overview of programs available at the district’s 25 elementary schools. In addition to the traditional kindergarten program, UCS is also introducing a new Young Fives program.

The Young Fives program provides young children additional time to prepare for a successful kindergarten and school experience. The program fosters social, emotional, physical and academic development through a year of growth and discovery for children who need additional time for development and maturity before entering kindergarten. Students who take part in the Young Fives program will transition to traditional kindergarten the following school year.

At the virtual open house, parents will have the opportunity to learn about the district's kindergarten curriculum and interact with school staff. Elementary schools are also planning on special face-to-face orientations for kindergarten families later in the spring/summer.
