UCS hosts annual career expo

Utica Community Schools will host its annual Career Expo on Thursday, March 19, 2020 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Eisenhower High School located at 6500 25 Mile Road, Shelby Township.

The Career Expo welcomes students in Kindergarten through 12th grade, parents, and staff from the UCS community as well as our community neighbors.

Persons working in more than 100 careers will be present to discuss their careers, educational requirements, job duties and tasks, expected earnings, job outlook, and success strategies. Students will have the opportunity to explore career possibilities as well as meet with CTE teachers who will be available to discuss course offerings associated with various careers.

Careers are seated by the six Michigan Career Zones and will include the occupations of the Skilled Trades.

A few of the scheduled careers to be represented are:

  • Arts & Communications: Broadcast Media, Public Relations, Cosmetology, Graphic & Web Design, Advertising
  • Business, Management, Marketing and Technology: Banking, Credit Union Branch Manager, Corporate Recruiter, Court Reporter, Cybersecurity, Director of Finance, Insurance Agent, Business Owner/Entrepreneur, Investment Banker, Realtor
  • Engineering/Manufacturing and Industrial Technology: Architect, Automotive Technician, Carpenter, Engineers, Drywall Finisher, HVAC, Land Surveyor, Interior Design, Sheet Metal Worker, Truck Driving
  • Health Sciences: CAN, Chiropractor, Dentist, Dental Hygienist, Doctor, Veterinarian, Veterinarian Technician, Nurse Practitioner, Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist, Psychologist, Radiologic Technologist, Patient Registrar, Respiratory Therapist, Social Worker, Surgeon – Oral Maxillofacial
  • Human Services: Attorney, Chef, Cosmetologist, CSI & Forensic Scientist, Child Care, Teacher, EMT, FBI Agent, Fire Service, Legal Assistant, Librarian, Parks & Recreation Coordinator, Police, Teacher Special Education
  • Natural Resources and Agriscience: Conservation Biologist, Conservation Officer.

Students whose teachers offer extra credit for attending can have their program, worksheet, or assignment stamped "Extra Credit-Career Expo" or receive an "Extra Credit" stamped voucher. If a student needs service hours or volunteer hours, please contact Mrs. Dyann Pugliese ( to schedule volunteer times.

This event provides students the chance to explore, research, and investigate while meeting persons employed in their career interest or career pathway.
