Good afternoon Titan community,
Good afternoon Titan community,
Spring is here and this spring weather we are getting has been wonderful! Parents, this is a great time to remind your child about making good decisions and positive choices. As we get ready to celebrate the Class of 2024 seniors, and the underclassmen moving up, we do not want this exciting time to be marred by tragedy. Reminder for students to put down those phones while driving, do not put any harmful substance in their body that is going to harm us or impair decisions, and show up to school on time. We need our kids to continue making those positive decisions that will take them and us forward. We want this spring to be a celebration not a tragedy. Please have that conversation with your student and know that we are having similar conversations here.
Students are getting anxious and excited about the end of the school year. Please remind them that the school day starts at 7:20 a.m. Students are expected to be in their classrooms at this time. Being late and/or having excessive absences (more than 10) could result in lost credit and/or loss of their parking pass privileges.
Teacher Appreciation week was May 6-10. I would like to take a moment to recognize the Stevenson Teachers. We simply have the best of the best! Thank you teachers for making Stevenson a great school!
2024-2025 Parking Pass Information
Our attendance pilot program began last week, and it seems to be going well. Now until May 31, 2024, we are initiating an attendance pilot program that is tied to student parking for the next school year (2024-2025). We hope this encourages student attendance and punctuality as we finish this school year.
All CURRENT 10th (Class of '26) and 11th (Class of '25) grade students, who have accumulated 5 or more tardies and/or Unexcused absences, will not receive their parking permit for the 1st five weeks of the 2024-25 school year (October 1st 2024). At that point, with responsible attendance, parking will be reevaluated for the school year. In addition, outstanding fees must be paid in full to be eligible for a parking permit. (Contact Remi Darroch, Bookkeeper, at remi.darroch@uticak12.org, 586-797-1903 for questions about your students fines.)
*Please encourage your Stevenson student to arrive on time and finish the current school year strong as we attempt to support and encourage good habits moving towards the next school year.
2024-2025 Parking Permits - We will be accepting parking permit applications from next year's seniors (class of 2025) beginning on June 3, they are $50. Students who already have a parking permit this year can turn in their old permit for a $5.00 discount on the new permit. You can find the Parking Permit Application on the Stevenson website: Stevenson High School on May 31. Please print it and bring copies of all required documents to Mrs. Bartold in the main office. Important – please see above regarding how students attendance and outstanding fines will affect whether or not your student will receive parking passes next year.

It is essential that we remind our students that they are not quite finished, Seniors only have 2 weeks of school left and the remainder of our students still have a few weeks left in this quarter. They must pass their classes, pass exams, and not lose credits for tardies, absences or poor choices. We have had our Senior Meetings and awards ceremonies and recognitions are happening almost daily. This is a time of year to talk about good choices. A key message I will share is to remember that a split-second decision can cost your child a great deal. In 17 years of graduating seniors, I’ve only had to refuse commencement once. I am incredibly clear about how disciplinary actions toward seniors at this point in the year will impact opportunities; be those prom, honors night and/or commencement. I also remind our seniors that those lost opportunities are not my fault, but theirs. We are all responsible for our choices. I also remind students that choices outside of school matter. As it gets warmer, remind your students that they need to be safe and make positive choices. We want to celebrate success at the end of the year, not mourn losses.
Please also remind your students to continue checking email, teams, and Schoology for important information during the rest of this school year.

Our Stevenson National Honor Society president, Anna, and other NHS leaders went to the Burr NEHS meeting on Monday, April 29 for their 2nd visit. Burr loves having them as they are mentors to the elementary students.
Anna did an outstanding job facilitating and getting some teambuilding activities planned. The NEHS members were able to debrief after and discuss what they learned. Great job NHS!
Juniors – There is a new offering where the Class of 2025 students will have a teacher helping them and going step by step through FAFSA, career planning, resume writing, along with filling out college and scholarship applications. See the flyer in the Titan Voice.

Important Reminders
Dress Code Reminder
As the weather starts to warm up, we would like to remind families and students of the UCS dress code. We understand fashion changes, but there are some constants.
- Indecent, tattered, or unsafe dress or footwear, or attire that calls undue attention to the wearer or has lettering or symbols that are disrespectful or derogatory are not allowed.
- Beach wear, low-cut tops, tank tops, sleeveless tops, muscle shirts, see-through clothing, short skirts or shorts, pajamas, tight clothing without proper coverage and clothing exposing the shoulders or mid-section are not allowed.
- Knee length shorts and skirts are acceptable. Shoes must be worn.
- Outerwear, such as coats and hats, is not to be worn in school.
- Clothing that promotes illegal substances or drugs, illegal activities, violence, tobacco, or alcohol is prohibited.
- Clothing or head coverings worn as group identifiers that promote a disruptive school climate are prohibited.
- Clothing consistent with religious or cultural beliefs is acceptable.
- Jewelry and accessories that may be deemed dangerous are prohibited.
These and all our dress code and attendance rules are available in the student – Student Handbook.
Student ID’s
Every student must wear their Stevenson ID at all times while on school grounds. A student’s ID card authorizes him/her to be on the school campus. It is crucial that the school staff can identify everyone on campus. The identification of staff and students is a safety issue and will not be compromised. Student IDs may be left in the student’s assigned locker overnight to ensure the student ID is not left at home. Please see the UCS student handbook for more information.
Another important reminder is to take time with your student to review the UCS High School Credit Review Rules and Procedures. In short, it starts by saying that a student has a responsibility to attend, be on time and prepared for each scheduled class. When a student nears or is at 10 absences (any combination of absences or tardies) they will meet with their Associate Principal and parents will be notified. At 11 absences the student will enter Credit Review and can restore those credits by making up the lost time for the classes via a contract made with their associate principal. This cannot be recovered short of testing out, taking the class via scheduling, credit recovery or summer school. Please take the time to read to discuss this with your student, and make sure they understand.
Another reminder is that students are expected to be in school on time. Parking Permits may be suspended for the following reasons:
❖ Excessive unexcused absences or tardies
❖ Careless or reckless driving
❖ Persistent disciplinary issues
Please continue checking the Stevenson website and Titan Voice for more information regarding important dates, counseling updates, and school and district happenings. This information is updated frequently.
With Titan Pride,
Kenneth L. Cucchi III
